Moog Synthesizer

Post by floydrocks »

Everyone knows what it is, but how do you pronounce it correctly? I've heard 2 different things:

I pronounce it moog (like a cow moo with a g on it- mooooog)
My friend pronounces it like moag (mo-ag).

If you can actually understand what I'm trying to pronounce (lol), which one is correct??? Just a question that makes me wonder sometimes.

I pronounce it "moog", not "moag". But then, English is not my mother language so what do I know.

I've heard it pronounced moog, like 'mood', since way back when the earth was green. But you know how pet pronunciations like to stick to society's tongue. 8)

I've always pronounced it like the sound of a cow.... moo, but according to synthmuseum.com it should rhyme with rogue or vogue although its too late for me to change now I suppose.

OK as someone who has actually met Dr Bob Moog I can clearly state that his name is pronounced Mauge as in the colour Mauve but with a G, he told me off for calling him Mr Moog as in the moo cow pronounciation, not something you want from one of your heroes but still, at least I know now!

So just to spell it out clearer its Mauge, Moge or Mow-g
