Music download sites

Post by drafsack »

I have just hitched up to broad band and wanted to start down loading music again. I used to use Napster, Kaaza and winmx. I know the old napster was shut down but is kaaza and winmx still going and are there any other good free down load sites.

Avoid kazaa like the plague. It will screw up your computer with spyware. Winmx is still there though, and I also recommend that you try soulseek. Get it at http://www.slsknet.org

Soulseek all the way! It is not the quickest in the world, but it is quite good.

You can get Kazaa lite here. (Get the most recent version). I use it and it has no spyware.

Winmx seems useless now, everything has huge queues of 100 people or more.

My favorite at the moment is Bittorrent. It's great if you can find a site with torrents that you're interested in as a lot of them are pretty specialized.

I tried a few ones (when being in my brother's house), Kazaa is terrible, Soulseek and imesh are o.k., but the biggest amount of music - whole albums etc., videos, movies and e-books I could find on e-mule. It's great!

E-mule is definitely the best, if you can compromise on the speed. Kazaa Lite is good and without any spyware.

Also try blubster. It's pretty fast.
