Well, I bought 8- tracks before records. I can't say for sure what my first one was but I kept many of them and they include Zeppelin, Rush, Neil Diamond, Sly and the Family Stone, Bee Gee's and (gasp) Olivia Newton John.

AH! the 70's

For Those About To Rock We Salute You by AC/DC was among the earliest. The first CD I got (don't worry, I say album, too, as I'm sure everyone else here does :)) was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John. Classic.

The old crappified version of the Return of the Jedi soundtrack. My first actual studio album I believe was Aerosmith's Get a Grip. Have I lost all musical credibility now? (...or was that all gone with my declaration of love for AMLoR?)

nothing wrong with that. it's better than 1989's 'The Miracle' which was the first CD I bought. (second was 'the wall).

Beatles - Hard Days Night or possibly Early Beatles (a US compilation on Capitol Records) both in mono, bought circa 1965. I had Beatles 45's before that. Still have the copy of the Early Beatles.
