Actually, I liked The Beatles when I was 2 or 3 and they debuted on the Ed Sullivan Show. My mom says I was captivated by them....but maybe I just thought they were human bugs captured in the tv set or something. Unfortunately, my parents certainly didn't encourage my liking of them (until they couldn't stop me as a teen). They were wickedly conservative. That's why I now live 1000 miles away and only visit them every other year or so.MikeWaters wrote:Wow, Mike, that's impressive. You must have been an advanced-model kid.

This is very, very emabrassing.
The first two albums that I ever bought were "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears and "N Sync." I was in the third grade.
And then after that, I started getting into punk rock.
My friend introduced me to Dark Side of the Moon in the 6th grade, but I rejected it back then. I never told him I hated it, though.
And this year,I was reintroduced to "classic rock" by another friend. She lent me "Tommy" by the Who, which I fell in love with, and which was my first "really old" album. Somehow, this uprooted me from the grunge music stage I was going through at the time. She also lent me about 3 Led Zeppelin albums, but I didn't like them. I started to listen to classic rock radio, and discovered that Pink Floyd was good. I rented the wall movie, and then I started to get more interested in Pink Floyd. I bought these in this order:
The Madcap Laughs
Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Barrett
Dark Side of the Moon
And that is the somewhat embarrassing tale of how I discovered good music.
