Gleich Vorweg: Ca Ira ist weder ein herk?mmliches Classic meets Rock
Album wie das "Concerto" von "Deep Purple", noch eine Rock Oper wie
"The Who's Tommy" oder das "The Wall" Album von "Pink Floyd", sondern eine
klassische Oper mit ausschlie?lich Orchester und Gesang. Roger Waters gelingt es, den H?rer
?ber die gesamte Spielzeit des Albums zu fesseln und zu begeistern. Die mehr als zehn Jahre
dauernde Arbeit hat sich voll gelohnt. Schon die "Overture" baut eine Spannung sonder gleichen
auf, die sich ?ber die gesamten zwei CD's weiter steigert. Die St?cke sind atmosph?risch
dicht gepackt und genial arrangiert. Um dem ganzen noch mehr Atmosph?re zu verleihen, wurden
"Pink Floyd" typische Sound-Samples (Sturm, Sch?sse, Guillotine...) perfekt mit in die
Lieder eingearbeitet, sodass dieses Doppelalbum ein packendes H?rerlebnis von der ersten
bis zur letzten Minute darstellt.
Der einzige kleine negative Aspekt ist bei der DVD zu finden. Zwar sind Bild und Ton
vorbildlich, allerdings gibt es ausschlie?lich eine englische Tonspur. Es ist nicht
einmal m?glich deutsche oder englische Untertitel einzublenden. So muss man selbst
als ehemaliger Englisch Leistungskursler schon sehr konzentriert zuh?ren.
Musikalisch ist dieses Album dennoch ein ablsoluter Meilenstein und Waters macht mit diesem
Werk ohne zweifel deutlich, dass es sich bei ihm um eine der wichtigsten Personen
der Musikgeschichte handelt.

Waters macht mit diesem Werk ohne zweifel deutlich, dass es sich bei ihm um eine der wichtigsten Personen der Musikgeschichte handelt.

That's pretty much the main point of the review... the rest is just other ways of saying the same thing.

Listen, I love Rog as much as the next obsessed Floydiac, but let's not go overboard on Ca Ira.

Some of it sounds good. Some of it sounds like Dr.' s Office music. Some of it sounds like a musical. I wouldn't call this great by any stretch of the imagination. I give him top props for undertaking this effort. I don't know that there's any more daunting thing for any musician/composer to attempt than composing and scoring an opera.

Good effort Rog, not a great opera.

Cheers to you anyhow for having the stones to give it a go.

I bought the record yesterday
but couldnt find the version w the DVD
anybody in the toronto area know where theyre selling it?
Sams and HMV just have the semi-lavish package

still! more artwork than all his previous solos combined,
the drawings remind me of the labels on the old vinyl Wall lps
