Interesting selection @theaussiefloydian. I'm going to give the albums I don't know from your list a listen. Starting with Slowdive's self-titled now. So far the instrumental introduction to the first track sounds a bit Floydian.

Huh, I've never really thought of Slowdive as Floydian but now that I'm turning the self titled one over in my head I can see what you mean. Maybe it's the kind of space rock feeling "Slomo" and "Star Roving" haveAnnoying Twit wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 11:50 am Starting with Slowdive's self-titled now. It stopped sounding Floydian once the vocals started, but I thought the initial instrumental introduction was quite Floydian.theaussiefloydian wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 4:41 amHuh, I've never really thought of Slowdive as Floydian but now that I'm turning the self titled one over in my head I can see what you mean. Thank you, you reminded me of some other 10/10 albums for me.twcc wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 3:54 pm ^^^
Wow, an interesting selection. On release I may have put 'The Wall' as 10/10, but I am not quite so sure now. Both 'WYWH' and 'Dark Side' retain their 10/10 and are pretty well flawless. 'The Final Cut' is good and improves with the follow-up enhanced releases but it's certainly not 10, as for TDB at best I rate that as 8/10. I agree 'All Things Must Pass' is 10/10, 'Sgt Pepper' with it's packaging, inner sleeve, lyrics on the back and content is near perfect but even that is only 9.5/10, I'm sorry but 'The White Album' is too inconsistent to achieve a 10 from me, 'Revolver' is likewise almost a 10 but inconsistent.
.
What would be mine?, well 'Dark Side' and 'WYWH' are in there, I will echo your 'All Things Must Pass' from George. I would add 'Ziggy Stardust' from David Bowie, especially the 5.1 mix as that is the reference for me ... in the past I would have used 'Hotel California' as the audio reference and on release that was 10/10 from me but it has dropped a peg, or two, now; I also love 'Highway 61 Revisited' but even that is 9.5/10 now.
I agree with 'Ziggy Stardust', just a brilliant album.
'Highway 61 Revisited' I will also have to agree get's 9.5, and 'Blonde On Blonde' is the same, but if it didn't have 'Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands' it'd be much less.
However, 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' and 'Blood On The Tracks' are both 10/10 for me.
I'd also add John Prine's self titled album, 'Heart Attack and Vine' by Tom Waits, 'Come What(ever) May' by Stone Sour (the song Zzyzx Road pushes it from a 9 to a 10, as does Through Glass), 'The Organic Band', 'Today' and 'Changing Colours', all by The Babe Rainbow, 'Slowhand' by Eric Clapton, 'Dog And Dustbin' and 'Rumors', both by Fleetwood Mac and 'Sovereign Town' by Geoff Achison.
