I missed the radio broadcast and the sound in that video kept cutting out. I could only tolerate those gaps until about two minutes. I can't wait to see the video. And it actually sounded much better than Rattle That Lock's title track from what I've heard of Luck and Strange.

Just listened to the new song

https://open.spotify.com/track/55mHu0dR ... DRIuMCSwhO

It’s not the best.

Some nice guitar near the end though which makes up for the Samson penned lyrics a bit.

Explore The Piper’s Call Lyrics, David Gilmour.

I rather like the lyrics. There are suggestions of literary pieces to look at to explore some of the themes further on the link above.

I've managed to hear a clearer video. I still like it more than Rattle That Lock. But it's not a pop or even rock single. It's as modern as psychedelia can get without whoosing sounds. Video tomorrow!

EDIT: But does it stop? Or is the music and singing interrupted by turning around and noticing you listening? <.8.>

Do you have a link to this site? As I’m not from UK I just keep getting sent to the european site and there is no info on early access there.

This album is sure to be better than Roger's last right?

I can't imagine it being any worse...lol

I missed the premier but I've been watching it over and over. It's a new benchmark in Floyd associated quality! Whereas Is This The Life We Really Want? sounded Waters through a Nigel Producer Thingy.
The Piper's Call sounds like the producer and Gilmour leaning on each other to get over the finish line.
Video is going to be staggering for memes. Wow! The intense rivalry takes another unexpected lead

"The Piper`s Call" is not a bad song, but I find it oddly overcomplicated and a bit messy. I did read that Gilmour picked producer Charlie Andrew, because he "...has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine". Yet it sounds very familiar Gilmour-ish. Or post-Waters Floyd, if you will. Anything from The Divison Bell and on.

We have the Division Bell-esque acoustic guitar, the Gilmour slide and some overtone noodling ambience. It doesn't add much to the song, but it does sound very trademark Gilmour. By the last min-or-so there is some C.Numb/Young Lust sounding build. It might not be very original, but still packs a fair bit of emotion. Good crescendoed. Maybe a bit short?

Then there is the lyrics. I am no Polly Samson hater, a song like "Smile" is very nice. Not anything new, but cozy lyrics that fit the music. But lines like "Can't undo the voodoo that you do", just doesn't do-do much for me-me.

Misquoting but I did like the one about whatever you don't need they'll sell you. Unless that's a proverb somewhere.
I've watched with subtitles and there's a line at the end about a Dealer.
Is it an anti-drugs song after all this time?
