Re: Knocking On Heavens Door covers.
I like Slash's solo but I'm biased and prefer Knofpler's soloqjamesfloyd wrote:This Dylan song has been covered by lots of people, but as far as the guitar solo goes, which is your favourite one?,i do like the Slash solo, but for me,and i am bias,it's got to be Mark Knopfler's moody and emotional solo
Any others?.

I would say that my favorite version of this song (for guitar solo and pretty much every other reason you care to think of) would have to be the version released by an Eighties Hair Metal Band called Heaven.
The singer sounded like some kind of unholy cross between Steve Perry and Bob Dylan...but he put more emotion in his ad-libs at the end of the song than Axl Rose has put into his entire career (mind you, I also think Axl Rose needs to get over his overblown self important image, get off his damned high horse, apologize to Slash, Duff and Izzy and get back to making a Guns And Roses album instead of an album by Axl And The No Credits.)
And Heaven's guitarist came up with a very melodic, beautifully executed solo.
This is coming from a guy who hates Eighties Hair Metal (despite the avatar pic...I was listening to Springsteen and U2 when that picture was taken...no...seriously...I was...the mullet was my grandmother's idea )
