The Aviator was okay. But it's not a movie I'd want to watch again.

I liked "The Aviator", mostly for the costumes and sets. DiCaprio is terrible with accents. Not sure why. He's in a new movie with a really horrendous-sounding English accent.
The strange thing about "The Aviator" is how much they focussed on the relationship between Katharine Hepburn and Howard Hughes. I've looked up information about Hepburn and it's hard to find much documentation about her time with him.

The best movie, in my opinion, in which Dicaprio acted was Basketball Diaries. That was an amazing movie!

The Aviator as a film is merely OK.

As a biography of Howard Hughes it's terrible. It is both innacurate and one-sided (I took an interest in Hughes a while ago)

Leonardo was actually pretty good in The Departed. But generally I hate him. He's just a little too much of a pretty boy, and he never plays anyone with a real pair of balls...which is pretty much his acting range.

Gangs of New york was beyond horrible...

I just watched Casino Royale today. I cannot find the words. This is the best Bond film since OHMSS and Daniel Craig himself is the best Bond since Sean Connery. I have to watch this film again sometime, no doubt about it.

went to see the Departed last night in the cinema... feckin brilliant movie!!
although it took a little getting used to the boston accents,
It was a great movie. There were many references/jokes that only Bostonians will know which I loved the most.

The Boston accent is easy... pronounce "ar" as if its an "ah". Actually, the Boston accent stems from the days of an English accent from Boston's colonial ancestors.

you can't pahk yoah cah in Hahvid Yahd.
you can't park your car in Harvard Yard.

One thing I don't get is, we have a tendency to add an "r" sound to words that end with an "a". For example... "Media Center." Bostonians say "Medier Centah". Go figyah.

I also enjoyed Casino Royale, I think Craig edges Connery out as the best Bond so far, the character he portrays in this is in my opinion much closer to Fleming's Bond than the Bonds in the previous films. I also have a soft spot for Aston Martins, the DBS is as sexy as Craig

Last night I watched most of DePalma's "Scarface" after mentioning it here a while ago - plus I was playing GTA: Vice City and that kind of got me in the mood for some Tony Montana-isms.
Tonight I watched all three parts of a BBC mini-series called "The Line of Beauty". I think I was expecting it to be more trashy and scandalous, but I wasn't disappointed.

My husband asked if I would go and see "Rocky Balboa" around Christmas. I am so tempted to, but I know I will end up crying. I did that all three times we went to see "Superman Returns" back in the summer, and I think he found it a bit embarrassing that his wife was sobbing as we were walking out of the theatre. He was watching "Rocky 2" the other night and I made the mistake of hanging around to see the ending, and of course I cried like a whiny bitch. I am a sucker for underdogs and geeks. Anyway...I still want to see the new Casino Royale.

Rocky Balboa should be legendary  The whole series are guilty pleasures of mine. Ok, so not part 2 cause it's boring as hell, but the others are good silly and dated fun like Commando. Especially Rocky 4 which was also almost as racist as Braveheart

He gets called the Balboasaurus in the new trailer

Yes, it's a series of vignettes (maybe 12)... so some of them likely will appeal more than others. The black and white cinematography looks great throughout, although the scenes were filmed separately over many years.

I've noticed that (for me anyway) Jarmusch's films seem to get better as they go along. This one seemed that way, in that the last sketch (I think called "Champagne") was just fantastic, totally amazing I thought.
