Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother 2023 Release

Pink Floyd will release a special edition of their “Atom Heart Mother” album on 8th December.

This 2-disc set includes the album on CD and a Blu-ray of the iconic “Atom Heart Mother (Suite)” performed at the Hakone Aphrodite Festival in Japan, 1971. This never-before-seen footage, previously part of The Early Years box set, has been enhanced from an original tape recently found.

I'm going to pass on it personally and just stick with my Japanese red supervinyl copy of the album.

I have been meaning to get around to obtaining the Early Years boxset in which this new release is included. Bit pricey don't know if I can do it yet!

Zooming this cover art on the bottom left there's a number 5 there hanging with lots of japanese characters.
Since AHM is PF's 5th album, it would be great if this release becomes a part of a new series of PF releases (since this one appears numbered with that 5) with additional content.

Yes, it is a number 5, but it only says "all 5 songs" (all other Japanese characters at the bottom are the titles of the songs). This is a reproduction of the original Japanese obi from 1970, not a hint at future releases.

In case you've missed it, the other release in the series of "7 inch" presentation was the Japanese re-release of Dark Side of the Moon.

Anyone get this yet? I would like to see a review. I'm still on the fence on getting it since I have bought AHM four different times over the years plus TEY. The Hakone Aprhodite performance of the title track is good but I already have it in TEY. Is the video worth watching more than once?

I love Atom Heart Mother, but can't get these new releases. I think they are too pricey and also are usually missed opportunities of adding more content (other live versions, more studio demos) that would justify the cost.

Still happy that it is available, though.

20 years ago i would have jumped to get this, but PF has been known lately to put all video on Youtube with time, so I think it´s not worth getting it just for the updated video.

I got this as a Christmas present. It’s a lovely package but the extra footage is a bit amateurish and it’s not really worth £45. I’d say £25 at a push.

I think its collectors territory really. Not a slick production at all. Nice to see them way back then though.
