Pink Floyd Release a New Song for Ukraine

Pink Floyd are releasing a new single in support of the people of Ukraine entitled Hey Hey Rise Up. The single will be available on all streaming and download platforms from midnight tonight. This is the first new original music that they have recorded together as a band since 1994’s The Division Bell. The track sees David Gilmour and Nick Mason joined by long-time Pink Floyd bass player Guy Pratt and Nitin Sawhney on keyboards and features an extraordinary vocal performance by Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band Boombox. The track, recorded last Wednesday (30th March), uses Andriy’s vocals taken from his Instagram post of him singing in Kyiv’s Sofiyskaya Square. The song itself, The Red Viburnum In The Meadow, is a rousing Ukrainian protest song written during the first world war which has been taken up across the world over the past month in protest of the invasion of Ukraine....

Roger Waters has given a preview of his new song ‘The Bar’ in a benefit event for Julian Assange. Julian Assange was working for the NSA spy agency in Hawaii and copied a lot of confidential information and shared it publicly. He went into excile for a long time on the run from the Americans, and Roger is supporting him. This is not a political blog so we won’t be getting into the detail of all that, but we will be sharing the video below for you to have a listen instead. Roger Waters performed at the Newport Folk Festival on Friday 24th July 2015 treating fans to several of his well known numbers as well as a brand new song! The new song is called “Crystal Clear” and features Roger performing piano on stage for the first time in his musical career! A new music video for Roger Waters The Child Will Fly has appeared on YouTube for Roger Waters fans to enjoy! The two and a half minute song features contributions from Shakira and Eric Clapton and Gustavo Cerati (from Soda Stereo, one of the biggest groups in Argentina). It was written 6 years ago for the Fundacion Alas charity to raise money to help disadvantaged children. What do you think of the song?
