“Picnic – A Breath of Fresh Air” is a sampler album issued by Harvest Records in 1970. This compilation was notable for its eclectic mix of music, showcasing the diverse roster of artists on the Harvest label, which EMI Records launched in 1969 to cater to the progressive rock market. The album features a variety of genres, including traditional folk, hard rock, psychedelia, and some lesser-known works.
The album is particularly significant for including the previously unreleased Pink Floyd song “Embryo,” which was included without the band’s approval. This led to the album’s prompt withdrawal from the market. Some editions of the album do not credit Pink Floyd for the track “Embryo” on the inside cover.
