The Development of Pink Floyd’s Large Rock Sound Systems: Volume 3 Out Now

Chris Hewitt from Cheshire, England, has the UK’s largest collection of Vintage audio equipment has has been documenting his experience with the development of large rock sound systems over the past few years in a 3 volume set of books. This includes the various stages of development of Pink Floyd’s sound systems. Pink Floyd set up their own sound hire company Britannia Row where you can rent professional equipment. Interstellar-600! Guy Pratt’s New Bass Amp from Ashdown – Own One!

Guy Pratt has been the studio and live bass guitar player for Pink Floyd since Roger Waters left the band. He has also worked with all kinds of people over his 40 years career. He is also a funny man doing his My Bass and Other Animals comedy tour which also had a book. Guy has used Ashdown guitar amplifiers over the years and his place in rock and roll history has been firmly cemented in place with a new custom built bass amp, the Interstellar-600. This 600 watt amp has a name inspired by, of course, Interstellar Overdrive which is a firm favourite on the set list of Pink Floyd drummer’s band Nick Mason and his Saucerful of Secrets. The late Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright has a new official website set up, presumably by his family. The site has sections covering an “about” the site/project, interviews with and about Rick, music inspired by and most loved by Richard, a very comprehensive breakdown of his equipment through the years and various projects including gear by album, a live section featuring live videos including the beautiful Breakthrough Rick solo song from David GIlmour’s RAH DVD, photography from Rick’s trip across the Atlantic in his boat, and a scrapbook of various images from over the years.
