Floyd Sculpted Figures Show

Floyd Sculpted Figures Show

As previously announced, Stevenson Entertainment are in the process of making available several sculpted figures inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall. The figures will be shown publically at the San Diego Comic Con in a few weeks time on 17th-20th July 2003. Hugo Stevenson of Stevenson Entertainment said “we will have a huge Wall built with display cases with the maquette prototypes inside.” “They should be in retail by the end of October/beginning of November.” “We are submitting the idea of a huge carrying case set to retailers that would include an extra maquette of the megaphone hammer….buying this set would be the only way to get the megaphone hammer. I’m guessing retail would be around $75.00? for the 6 maquette box set.” Roger Waters gave permission for a licence to be granted to the company to exclusively produce and distribute the figures. Emily Tries But Misunderstands?

Emily Tries But Misunderstands?

It would appear that the legendary Pink Floyd song from Relics “See Emily Play” was written about a young lady – at the time – called Emily Young. Emily is now an accomplished 51 year-old sculptor whose pieces include Angel Head, Dancing Green Torso, and Crouching Angel. She comes from a family of artists, writers and politicians and was brought up in London, Rome and Wiltshire. According to Emily herself though, “My friend and I used to go dancing on a Friday night, and the band was this thing called The Pink Floyd Sound. I didn’t pay that much attention to them because I was sort of dancing around and chatting – there was a bunch of crazy people in...

Grantchester Meadows to be dug up?

Grantchester Meadows to be dug up?

The beautifully scenic meadows or Grantchester are a proposed site for housing development under the Labour government in England and, in particular, the Deputy Prime Minister, John “Two jags” Prescott. According to The Guardian newspaper, “The meadows, part of a world heritage site and among Europe’s most cherished vistas, are feared to be under threat by a scheme to build 1,000 houses on a mile-long strip of land on their edge.” “How sad,” the rock star Roger Waters, ex-Pink Floyd bass player and creator of The Wall, said yesterday when told b y the Guardian of the scheme. Waters’ 1970s song lyric, Grantchester Meadows, is nowadays as celebrated an anthem to the meadows as Brooke’s pre-first world war poem The Old Vicarage, Grantchester. Waters said: “I am very happy to help if the campaigners feel that I can.” Despite sparse publicity so far, more than 3,000 residents have signed a...
