David Gilmour Recording New Song for Teenage Cancer Trust

David Gilmour has been recording a new song for UK charity Teenage Cancer Trust at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London. Guy Fletcher, Dire Straits keyboard player, recorded them at the London studio which features some rather excellent vintage equipment in addition the modern stuff. Guy said, ” I recorded David yesterday for the TCT project. It was great to see him and Polly. (And their dogs!)”. David Gilmour’s wife and lyricist also posted a couple of photos from the session on her Instagram page. David has been playing his black black strat (not 0001) on the recording which, hopefully, we will know more about soon. Roger Waters Re-Records Dark Side of the Moon

Roger Waters has revealed that he has re-recorded Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album, and hopes to release it in May 2023, as a lavish vinyl accompanied by a concert! He has re-recorded it from scratch, without the involvement or even knowledge of any of his old band mates. Roger also recently released his new recording of Comfortably Numb, with the guitar solos removed, and replaced by vocals. It was released on his Lockdown Sessions release. He’s still polishing the final details but it should be released as a “lavish vinyl” and promoted with a concert. Given that Roger left Pink Floyd in the 1980s and doesn’t own the Pink Floyd name, it will very likely be released under his own name. Given The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best selling albums of all time and regarded very highly by fans, it does beg...

New Roger Waters Album Out Next Year – The Lockdown Sessions

Roger Waters has a new album out, probably next year, and is currently away being mastered ready for release! This is in addition to another potential album from him “The Bar” centred around a new long song which he played for a Julian Asange benefit event last October 2021. Not to mention Roger Waters’ Memoirs. He revealed the news whilst recording a version of The Grayzone podcast. You can watch a video of the podcast recording below and there is also a transcript underneath the video of what he said. Thanks to The Pink Floyd Collectors for the heads up. During lock down Roger and the band recorded lots of new versions of various songs that they were working on and shared them as he went along. It would seem these recordings have probably been spruced up and sent to me mastered to make them sound nice and polished ready...

Roger Waters Comfortably Numb 2022 Recording

Listen To New Recording of Comfortably Numb As You’ve Never Heard It!

Roger Waters has recorded a new version of Comfortably Numb which is rather different to the original recording that David Gilmour offered to Pink Floyd which went on to become probably their most famous song! The new version, recorded by Roger Waters inspired by a demo he did for his latest tour pre-lock-down, has been dropped down a key (not as high pitched to sing) which has made it sound much darker. It has a very distinct looking new video to go with it, looks great. The David Gilmour epic solos have also been removed and replaced with vocal scat instead which sounds great, like Clare Torry’s contribution to A Great Gig in the Sky from Dark Side of the Moon of course. Whilst many fans will not be pleased about the erasing of the guitar solos, it is interesting of course to hear the old song but done in...

Syd Barrett Documentary Have You Got It Yet? Finished

Mercury Studios announces the completion of the feature length documentary HAVE YOU GOT IT YET? THE STORY OF SYD BARRETT AND PINK FLOYD, along with producers Believe Media and A Cat Called Rover. The film was directed by award-winning filmmaker Roddy Bogawa and late famed graphic designer Storm Thorgerson. Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd gave the group their moniker by combining the names of two obscure blues players – Pink Anderson and Floyd Council – and wrote their first two charting singles but was quietly pushed out of the group who were convinced he had suffered an LSD induced psychotic breakdown, replaced by his childhood friend David Gilmour. Subsequently releasing two solo LPs that garnered minor attention though considered by many contemporary musicians as uniquely haunting and poetic, Barrett dropped out of music returning home to Cambridge for the last thirty years of his life...
