It is that time of year again when The Times (a quality UK Broadsheet newspaper) publishes it’s “Rich List” of the top 1000 richest people in Britain. The list includes everybody from royalty, musicians, writers and toffs who have inherited daddy’s money! Of course as Pink Floyd are one of the worlds most successful rock groups in history, they have made a couple of quid from their musical pursuits. Some members more than others! Nick Mason’s book “Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd” is due to be published on 9th September 2004 by Orion Books. The long-awaited book will be released as a hardback consisting of 360 pages. It will include many of Nick Mason’s personal photographs of the band over the years. Nick has been trying to release a history of the band for a while now but it would seem David Gilmour has been objecting because, initially, it was to be called “The Official History of Pink Floyd” and David Gilmour was not involved in writing it. The official Pink Floyd site has been updated due to “the final cut” being remastered and rereleased on 31st March 2004. This re-mastered version comes repackaged in a new 16 page booklet featuring all the original sleeve artwork designed by Roger Waters and includes the extra track ‘When The Tigers Broke Free’. You can watch a rare short movie and the music video for ‘When The Tigers Broke Free’ on the website. Pink Floyd’s ‘The Final Cut’ was initially released in 1983 and reached No.1 in the UK and spent 25 weeks in the charts on release. ‘When The Tigers Broke Free’ was the first 7″ single from the record, however the track never made the original album. ‘The Final Cut’ was written by Roger Waters, recorded in 1982 and was his last record with Pink Floyd.
