Phase 1 of the Why Pink Floyd release schedule has happened and many of you will have your Dark Side of the Moon Immersion Edition and Discovery albums and enjoying the glorious sounding enhanced CDs and DVDs. I myself have the DSotM Immersion Edition and Vinyl in addition to the Discovery box set of all the studio albums which I am most pleased about. Still got lots of listening and immersing to do hence I am about to start my review of the Dark Side Immersion edition shortly. However, lets now turn our attention to the second phase of the Why Pink Floyd release schedule which will see Dark Side of the Moon follow up album Wish You Were Here get the Experience and Immersion treatment! The famous Animals cover has been re-created this morning at 6:30am until 7.20am at London’s Battersea Power Station. This was, of course, for the launch of Why Pink Floyd, the first phase of the release starting today. Storm Thorgerson originally set Algie the pig up at the disused power station back in 1976 to create the iconic Pink Floyd album cover. It is called The Greatest Gig in the Sky. The audio is from the November 1974 BBC recording of Pink Floyd’s Wembley performance of Dark Side of the Moon and lets you listen to the album all the way through.
