I took a look at the competition entries thus far for the Wish You Were Competition NPF is currently running this morning and there were nearly 4,000 entries which is about 2,500 more than usual. After some further investigation, I discovered that some clever German has written some computer software that automatically enters competitions using a bot with thousands of email addresses at its disposal and, more annoyingly, hundreds of IP addresses too so it is difficult to spot them as being a spammer. There business is to enter so many entries into a competition that they are very likely to win the competition they are entering. However, at NPF, the winning competition entry is checked very carefully to make sure it is not a bot or a duplicate entry from someone. The satirical cartoonist and Pink Floyd Wall animator Gerald Scarfe has had a prehistoric flying reptile named after him due to his depictions of Lady Thatcher as “Torydactyl”. The 13in (33cm) long pterosaur, discovered in Kimmeridge Bay, has been named Cuspicephalus scarfi. Mr Scarfe said: “I’m thrilled and flattered – I never thought Mrs Thatcher would do anything for me – even if it is to be immortalised as a 155-million-year-old fossil. “I have spent many holidays in Kimmeridge and to think my namesake was buried beneath my feet is wonderfully bizarre.” You can read more about this on the BBC News website.

Laurie told the paper, “It just seems like a good time to do it before the tour.” The couple are shopping for a new engagement ring to replace one Durning lost in London after Waters proposed to her. Durning says she’ll only have close friends at a “private and low-key” ceremony so there will be nothing too lavish or tacky! This will be Roger’s 4th marriage after he married Judy Trimm 1968 to 1975, Carolyne Christie 1976 to 1992 and Pricilla Phillips who he met at the Berlin Wall concerts between 1993 and divorced at some point later that I do not know of. There are plenty of Pink Floyd cover/tribute bands out there who have been inspired by the music of Pink Floyd to the point where they will play their music and re-create it for people in pubs, clubs and even arenas like the Australian Pink Floyd or Brit Floyd.
