The event is held for the benefit of two charities that are very important for the local area. There is the Wiltshire Air Ambulance providing a vital lifeline particularly in remote areas of the Cotswolds. Secondly, there is The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust which provides a free home security service for anyone over 60 or, 18+ with a registered disability, who may be a victim of house crime, cyber-crime or domestic abuse.

Things to Do at Middlewick Open Gardens 2024

There will be plenty to see and do if the last event was anything to go by. I can’t wait to visit again in 2024, on the Sunday.

You can meet and greet Nick Mason, in front of his impressive garden office, where you can buy a signed copy of his incredible book The Inside History of Pink Floyd. Additionally, you can get your favourite memorabilia signed by Nick. Make sure you give a good donation of course.

The on site stables and paddock accommodate the visiting farm animals. The children’s play area enhance the day as a family friendly event. Nick and Annette Mason’s garden allotment was also fun to visit if you are into your sustainable living.

Nick Mason is a well known collector of cars and his collection is fantastic. The crown jewel is his Ferrari 250 GTO which is the most valuable car in the world. He bought the grand tourer back in the 1970s for £35k. The valuation today is probably around £40m! Quite a return on investment. He doesn’t keep it under wraps though. It has featured at events all over the country and races at Goodwood Festival of Speed. His collection also includes Aston Martin, Bugatti, Jaguar and a McLaren F1 to name but a few. He has some of the earliest cars available all the way up to modern ones.

There are lots of stalls to visit, with 50+ of them in the last event. These include everything from food and drink to shopping stalls, and more. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leads.

Success of Previous Middlewick Open Gardens Event

Middlewick House Open Gardens has built a keen following. The last Middlewick House Open Gardens event in Summer 2023 was attended by 8,000 people raising a record breaking £88,000. Visitors were treated to 50+ stalls where they could buy goods, food, plants and more.

An interesting fact: Queen Camilla used to live at Middlewick House.
