The 12MB Real Media file shows David Gilmour recording in his Astoria Houseboat Studio and at Abbey Road David candidly talks of his approach to the recordings, and to the live shows, with his rationale for the type and number of venues picked. He also talks of his lyric writing confidence (or indeed, lack of it!) and the EPK ends with a nice sequence showing how the various elements (guitar, percussion, orchestra, and more) combine perfectly, with the fabulous sounding Take A Breath being showcased. If you pop over to David Gilmour’s official website, you will see that it has had a nice new site re-design! Very pretty indeed! As well as the site re-design, there is a video available of On An “Island”. The video was shot by various camera persons in various locations, it features David, Astoria, Abbey Road, and the full orchestra conducted by Robert Ziegler from a score written by Zbigniew Preisner. BBC Radio 2 are giving away tickets to watch David Gilmour record a live session on Tuesday 7th March 2006 at the Mermaid Theatre in London for broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday 11th April 2006! David will be playing some of his favourite Pink Floyd as well as some from his forthcoming album On An Island – due to be released on 6th March 2006 in Europe and the day after worldwide. David Gilmour’s forthcoming album, to be released on 6th March 2006 and on the 7th elsewhere, is to be played in full on Canadian radio station Chez 106 at 8pm on 4th March!
