The site costs money to run each year and, due to the size and popularity of the site, needs a powerful web server to keep it running, backup server to protect the site data in the event of hacking/disc failure and uptime monitoring to ensure a good service to visitors. The small amount of monies earned from advertising on the site covers costs such as competition prizes and general administration. There were 2,130 surveys submitted and used to formulate the results on the following pages.  Hence this is a pretty accurate representation of the typical Pink Floyd fan. The long-running event, organised by the BBC, is to feature an album recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.  Called Bandaged Together, it will feature the works of various artists including Bill Wyman, Midge Ure, Nick Mason, Roger Taylor, Bryan Ferry, Beth Rowley, Imelda May, Clare Teal, Hayley Westenra, Cerys Matthews, Hugh Cornwell, Heather Small, Paloma Faith, Cara Dillon, Peter Gabriel, Finbar Fury, and Red Hurley.
