Win Abbey Road Studio Time and Logo!

Win Abbey Road Studio Time and Logo!

Resources & Links MySpace Arnold Layne Competition | David Gilmour’s Official Website | Discuss on the forum EMI UK has come up with a fun competition for musical combos to win a day’s recording in Abbey Road Studios by creating their very own version of Arnold Layne. Famed Pink Floyd and ex-Hipgnosis designer Storm Thorgerson has also agreed to design a new logo for the winners, which is a prize worth entering for alone. The idea is that ANY musical entity can enter any version they like (as long as it’s their own recording) of Arnold Layne, which they can then upload to a special MySpace page. All the rules are there, but essentially: you record it; you post it; the numbers get whittled down; and David himself will judge the winner from the Top 3. Winners get a free day recording at Abbey Road, plus a free band logo...

The Madcap Next Door – What Living Next Door to Syd Barrett Was Like

This article considers some of the points raised in an article published in the Mail on Sunday tabloid newspaper in Great Britain. It sheds light on the life of Syd Barrett once he returned home from London to Cambridge. It seems Cambridge was not as quiet and idyllic as one may have thought! Discuss on forum. ———————————————————————–     Article from Mail on Sunday If an article published by the British tabloid newspaper The Mail on Sunday – and the gentleman who wrote the story – are to be believed, then it would seem Roger Keith (Syd) Barrett was not quite the quiet recluse (who lived at number 6 St Margaret’s Square in Cambridge for the final 25 years of his life) that everyone thought he was. Former next door neighbour David Sore from number 7 (it’s a cul de sac so 7 is next door) apparently shared some of his memories...

On An Island Re-Release (USA) Review

On An Island Re-Release (USA) Review

David Gilmour and Richard Wright performing at David’s 60th Birthday party. David Gilmour’s third solo album On An Island (OAI) was first released on his 60th birthday back on 6th March 2006. Indeed, he celebrated his 60th at Porchester Hall in London at which he performed some songs with his 2006 touring band before they went off to travel the world touring the new album. It is therefore slightly surprising that, less than 9 months later, the album is re-released! This time though with a separate bonus DVD. Naturally, Gilmour used the media to his advantage to publicise the first offering of OAI, the first solo effort for many years, which included magazine interviews, radio interviews and, of course, TV and the internet! One such event for the internet was the AOL Session he did in April 2006. These sessions, along with a performance from the Royal Albert Hall and...
