Syd Barrett: The Summer of Love Concert in Sweden 2020

Swedish band Men on the Border are to stage another spectacular concert in tribute to Syd Barrett in August 2020 in Sweden. Rock band Men On The Border and the Sandviken Symphony Orchestra plan to repeat their 2016 Cambridge success at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm, 14th November 2020. As a very special guest, we are privileged to announce guitarist Janne Schaffer, best-known for his collaborations with ABBA, and his comprehensive solo career. “I loaned Barrett my amp when Pink Floyd played in Stockholm in 1967, so I’m really looking forward to honouring him at Berwaldhallen, where Pink Floyd were presented with the Polar Prize.” Jan Stumsner, super-guitarist from P-Floyd will also add his own special brand of brilliance to the show. Record Store Day Event From 2019

Pink Floyd in Record Store Day Event 2020

Record Store Day is a way for artists to support independent record stores and Pink Floyd has been participating for some time as many of you will know. To celebrate Record Store Day 2020, Pink Floyd will release a live recording of the band’s first single, and Syd Barrett’s best-known song, Arnold Layne, via participating stores. Pink Floyd Records has supported Record Store Day since the label’s launch in June 2016, so this release is slightly different from the version that appeared in the recent The Later Years box set. The limited-edition, one-sided Record Store Day 7″ vinyl single boasts new artwork for the release featuring a person caught ‘red-handed’ in handcuffs. Pink Floyd Creative Director Aubrey Powell oversaw the sleeve, newly created by long-time Floyd collaborators, photographer Rupert Truman and designer Peter Curzon, both of StormStudios. New art extends to the B-side of the single, which features a new and exclusive etching...

Roger Waters Announcement

Roger’s Video about David Not Sharing Pink Floyd Website and Social Media

It would seem the disagreements between Roger Waters and David Gilmour are hotting up again as Roger has posted a new video online having a go at the fact David won’t let Roger publicise his tours, videos etc on the Pink Floyd website and social media accounts. However, the accounts routinely share readings from Novels from David’s wife and other material not connected to Pink Floyd. Roger said, amongst other things: “Why do we have to sit and watch Polly Samson for year after year, month after month, day after day, and the Von Trapps reading us excerpts from their novels, to get us to go to sleep at night? And that’s a very good question. And yet we don’t get to hear about anything that Roger is doing, or about this is not a drill, or when he makes a piece of work it is not shown.” What are...

Roger Waters Mother on Lockdown Band Grid

Watch Roger Waters Playing Mother on Lockdown

Pink Floyd songsmith Roger Waters has done a version of Mother from The Wall with most of his band on video call. You can watch it below. Social distancing is a necessary evil in Covid world. Watching “Mother” reminds me just how irreplaceable the joy of being in a band is.

Guy Pratt’s Arthritic Thumb Slaps That Funky Bass!

Guy Pratt, who played bass for Pink Floyd after Roger Waters left in the 1980s, has been doing some explainer/tutorial videos on Youtube for fans to enjoy. His show is called “Lockdown Licks”. Guy has played bass on lots of famous songs and albums over the years and has a rather impressive resume. He is currently up to episode 4 where he covers a couple of Pink Floyd classics. Fans that have heard the re-recorded and re-mixed Later Years box set material will notice a lot of Guy’s original material was toned down – the band seemingly wanting a less 80s feel and more a timeless mix. Guy mentions this awkward situation in the video. Episode 5 will feature Money by Pink Floyd which is of course one of the most famous bass lines from the band. Keep you eyes peeled for that on Guy Pratt’s Youtube Channel. Anyway, here...
