Donovan feat David Gilmour - Gaelia Album 2022

New Music from David Gilmour and Donovan – Listen Now

Pink Floyd guitarist and singer David Gilmour has collaborated on two songs with folk-rock singer Donovan, on an album called Gaelia The Sulan Sessions, which is due to be released on 15th December, just in time for Christmas. David has collaborated with a great number of people over the years in production and session musician roles. He has two tracks on the new album with one called Rock Me, and the other being Lover O’ Lover. Both sound amazing. Donovan told Variety magazine… “I met up with David at Lord Michael and Lady Marina Cowdray’s country estate,” he says. “These two dear, noble friends of Linda and mine were holding amazing salons where the most futuristic creatives in music and awareness would gather. Soon Linda and I were headed with Michael and Marina and His Holiness the Tibetan Gylwang Drukpa of Ladakh up into the Himalayas to found a school in Ladakh. But back to...

Roger Waters Comfortably Numb 2022 Recording

Listen To New Recording of Comfortably Numb As You’ve Never Heard It!

Roger Waters has recorded a new version of Comfortably Numb which is rather different to the original recording that David Gilmour offered to Pink Floyd which went on to become probably their most famous song! The new version, recorded by Roger Waters inspired by a demo he did for his latest tour pre-lock-down, has been dropped down a key (not as high pitched to sing) which has made it sound much darker. It has a very distinct looking new video to go with it, looks great. The David Gilmour epic solos have also been removed and replaced with vocal scat instead which sounds great, like Clare Torry’s contribution to A Great Gig in the Sky from Dark Side of the Moon of course. Whilst many fans will not be pleased about the erasing of the guitar solos, it is interesting of course to hear the old song but done in...

Syd Barrett Documentary Have You Got It Yet Car Photoshoot Picture

Syd Barrett Documentary Have You Got It Yet? Finished

Mercury Studios announces the completion of the feature length documentary HAVE YOU GOT IT YET? THE STORY OF SYD BARRETT AND PINK FLOYD, along with producers Believe Media and A Cat Called Rover. The film was directed by award-winning filmmaker Roddy Bogawa and late famed graphic designer Storm Thorgerson. Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd gave the group their moniker by combining the names of two obscure blues players – Pink Anderson and Floyd Council – and wrote their first two charting singles but was quietly pushed out of the group who were convinced he had suffered an LSD induced psychotic breakdown, replaced by his childhood friend David Gilmour. Subsequently releasing two solo LPs that garnered minor attention though considered by many contemporary musicians as uniquely haunting and poetic, Barrett dropped out of music returning home to Cambridge for the last thirty years of his life...

The wait is finally over – Pink Floyd’s eagerly anticipated release of Pink Floyd Animals 2018 remix is finally here! Although the deluxe version is out next month on the 7th October, all the other formats are available now including glorious vinyl. Many people will be left wondering how such a fantastically produced album could be remixed to sound better than the original, and many fans may well disagree if its possible to sound better. But it does sound much punchier and cleaner overall, and some of the change in emphasis in the mix is something new to enjoy given the band doesn’t release new material anymore. Pink Floyd drummer and Saucerful of Secrets band leader, Nick Mason, did an interview with Consequence of Sound about the release of the album noting that he is please people can now stop asking him when it is out! The release has been...

Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time - Pink Floyd Win of course!

Pink Floyd Win Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time – listen to the demo recordings

Planet Rock Radio has done an online poll to find the greatest guitar solo of all time. They let fans vote for any song they liked so didn’t limit the choice. The great news is that Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb came in at number one, and that it had nearly 10% of the vote – an astonishing result given the open ended question of which guitar solo is the greatest. The music was composed by David Gilmour during the recording of his solo album in 1978 where he hummed a melody over the top of the music he recorded. You can listen below to his first demo recording. There was also a demo made by Pink Floyd under the working title of The Doctor, which has different lyrics to the final studio version, and Roger Waters added the lyrics to that as part of his rock opera, The Wall, which...

A Great Day for Freedom Pink Floyd Music Video

Pink Floyd Top of the Charts and New Music Video

Great news. The mighty Pink Floyd is top of the UK physical charts this week new in at number one. This is not the download charts but the physical charts where people actually get a proper copy. The single is Hey Hey Rise Up which is a collaboration with Andriy Khlyvnyuk in support of Ukraine given the situation there. The physical release also features a reworked version of Pink Floyd’s A Great Day for Freedom which you can watch below. There has been all kinds of arguing and bickering on the internet about the credits on the reworked song with Jon Carin apparently not knowing the keyboard parts have been re-recorded. Quite the compliment from Jon thinking its his keyboarding, perhaps David is pretty good at keyboards too. Using A Great Day For Freedom as the B-side of the new Pink Floyd single, Hey Hey, Rise Up seemed like an...
